OCCUPY THE FUTURE, Part 2!
YOU ARE INVITED, DESIRED, ENCOURAGED to help create Occupy Albany’s future! The next Occupy the Future meeting will be on September 8, 4:00-6:00 pm at Occupy Albany’s new Indoor Space, 153 South Pearl Street, Albany.
At the last meeting we brainstormed Who We Are, What Is/Has Been Our Relevance/Effectiveness, and What Do We Want/Have the Capacity Do Now? A challenging range of ideas, concerns and possibilities was explored.

Occupy the Future August 11, 2013
We want to build a stronger foundation for Occupy Albany so that it will be a sustainable movement. Occupy Albany needs your help, input, expertise, talent, curiosity, and creativity. The direction the movement takes, the power of the movement, and its survival depends entirely on the level and diversity of participation.
We are working on a public statement of our values and principles, considering ways of providing safe social space, and updating our outreach and IT efforts. This will position Occupy Albany to expand its work for economic justice and for a future determined by the people rather than the corporations.
The small number of people in attendance at the last Occupy the Future meeting and the small numbers attending GA since we have relocated our indoor meeting space are concerns. We don’t know if this is a “summer slowdown” or a real drop in the number of people who want to be “actively” involved with Occupy Albany.
On September 8 we will define realistic next steps for Occupy Albany; and determine who will carry out the tasks needed to achieve each step. What we decide we are able to do will clearly depend on how much people-power we have to draw on. Please give as much of yourself to this movement as feels safe and sustainable for you. Every little bit of support we have counts. If you are unable to attend the meeting, suggestions can be made at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please put Occupy Future in the subject line.
