Occupy Albany General Assembly
August 18, 2012
Once again today’s (Saturday’s) GA didn’t have a quorum. Eventually we had 10 people, who came up with the following proposal. No one there was from the Facilitation working group, so we are sending it to you, Dan Kelly, in hopes that you’ll support it & put some notice of it on Facebook, and to PR, asking for an email blast well in advance of the meeting.
Because we tried & failed last Wednesday to get a change of meeting frequency/time/place, we decided the different aspects should be broken out individually. We also decided to try scheduling this for a regular GA night for that reason (plus the apparent confusion about how many marches are happening next week).
Here’s our proposal. I’d appreciate a response from both Dan and someone in PR.
Proposal from the attendees at GA on 8/18/12
LET’S HAVE A BIG GA ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23!
AT 6:00 PM, 472 MADISON AVENUE, ALBANY.
We need YOU to be sure of having a quorum, so that the following issues can be addressed:
General Assembly: (consider each issue separately)
Quorum size – should we reduce the number of people needed for quorum, at least until attendance regularly increases?
Meeting Frequency – should we reduce the number of GAs per week?
If so, what day(s) should GA be held? What time?
Meeting Place – should we consider another place for one or more GAs?
September 17: Occupy Wall Street birthday planning & coordination.
Occupy Albany Birthday: Establishment of a working group, potential proposal for actions
Marches: Targets for future marches (content and route)
