General Assembly Notes For: 10/13/12

Report Backs

Caucuses; LGBT- we might try to meet up in the next week to arrange for a panel event.

Working Groups:

Democratize the Economy – Apple/Foxconn event – News of Foxconn, Injury of worker.

Bring more flyers for places like Crossgates.

Fundraising- Last Night’s movie-5 people, $45

Direct Action, Gathering Allies, progress from several activities.

Legal- Main case sent back to state level form the District Level, Filing for Dismissal, as case is a moot point. We have not promised to not camp in the park again.    Jan adds update of her own false arrest case, 2 year projected time to wait.

MOP- Debriefing Tuesday,  Working on interpersonal conflicts. Plans ongoing for coming weeks.

Upcoming- Med Students moving to reform ‘Healthcare for the 99%’   Have Meeting for Brainstorming and Actions(Free Checkups, Teach-ins)

Proposals

Guest Proposal- U Albany students (team of 3) are doing a Comms project

“2 interviews as research for power relationships.”   Les gives explanation that we don’t have leaders(leaderless), Dan P rephrases that we are all leaders (leaderful), and so such do as many interviews as possible.  Contact List is passed, separate mtg proposed to talk to them separately.

Proposal- $50 for printing money for anniversary flyers.  Money is available from movie money and check from Social Justice Center (1,200)  Proposal is restated and no further concerns existed, (consensus reached)

Other Business

Nov 14th LGBT Meeting with people from Southern Poverty Law Center to discuss program for LGBT rights moving forward; At U Albany.

Good feelings at Citizen Action Training for Fair elections campaign.

Walmart Solidarity protest;

Dan- Fri Nov 9th Fundraiser for Bethlehem Neighbors for peace Joe Lamparo is going to speak to them at the Library on his work in Pakistan.

Socialist Discussion mtg Sunday 1-3

‘OUR’ Wal-Mart org for us to contact  expresses hope to work with local workers as labor is natural cause and frame to work within.

Collin-   Students doing GA Thurs 18th 5oclock on campus.

Jan-  Thurs 1st is Art event at 1st Universalist church.

Playpump ITL is a cause to support in days after Election.

‘Half the Sky’ Doc, on Sex slave trafficking, opportunity for event, guest, action, etc.
