Airline searches does not catch many terrorists or
criminals. These pat downs and personal searches
are curtailing civil rights in America.

The 1% buy access to pols using big bucks, their lobbyists help draft tax laws, they don't pay anything like their share, the rest of us pay though higher taxes and inadequate public services.

Even worse, the 1% have been running hog-wild in the private economy: practically all the real economic growth since Reagan was elected went to the top brackets.

The teach-in mentioned in the post was in the past, but there will be a free screening of the award-winning documentary PRICELE$$ Wed May 2 at the Spectrum theater on Delaware Ave in Albany, hosted by Citizen Action, followed by a Q&A discussion with Paul Tonko.

While it annoys me to BE patted down, it absolutely INFURIATES me to watch my girlfriend get touched in ways that ONLY *I* should be allowed to touch her !

Even Israel doesn't have these kinds of invasive searches, and they are SURROUNDED by people who want to kill them. Why can't the US implement the policies that Israel does ?

Oh, wait, I know why... because the US isn't finished taking away our freedoms yet

Also, turnabout is fair play - whenever we plan actions that may engage the police, make an effort to bring as many video cameras as possible to observe them and hold them accountable for any abuse - pepper spray, unnecessary roughness, verbal abuse.

Good information - people should be aware of surveillance, infiltration, and agents provacateurs. But this should not preclude negotiating with police regarding protest actions: what actions by demonstrators are subject to arrest, vs how and where peaceful protest would be accepted by the police as constitutionally protected.
Protest organizers should be aware that bc protesters' life situations are diverse, some may be unwilling to risk arrest, but we should still welcome their safe participation.
